Other Programs

I have spent my whole life in the equestrian field. From early beginnings in pony club and working through the levels through to traveling Europe, and working and riding with international-level riders. I have spent years working in hunter, jumper, dressage, western pleasure, breeding and racing barns.

At Aspen Acres, I try to teach my students that there is so much more to horses than just riding.

By developing these programs, I hope to help teach other equestrian enthusiasts about the ins and outs of horses. I have made many mistakes in the past and unfortunately, when any horse owner make mistakes it is our horses that suffer the most. My goal is to share what I have learned, and what I am still learning so others can benefit.

Training Course & Clinics

Learn how to work with horses, or correct behaviours you may be experiencing with your own horses. There is no special equipment. The objective of this course is to take participants from all levels and disciplines and teach them safe and effective ways to work with and train a green horse.

This course is divided into two parts. The first consists of an observation of a demonstration by Stacey McQuire, followed by hands-on learning with your own horse, or a member of Aspen Acres’ herd while being coached on the do’s and don’ts.

This course aims to provide the tools that you need when working with young, or green horses to both keep you safe, and to support the development of a strong, respectful relationship between you and your horse.

Other Clinics & Programs

We have been privileged to be able to offer a number of specialized programs over the years. These have included a “falling clinic” to help students learn to fall safely during an ‘unplanned dismount’; a day-long introduction to basic equine and human first-aid; and a three-day Equine Massage program provided by Jodi Pendry.

These programs are primarily open to students only, however special note will be made here should sessions be open to the public.
